Most of the BVI beach bars and restaurants that charter crews plan a week around shut for the peak of hurricane season and open again through October. If you are sailing in October or early November, the dates below decide where you can eat, and where you need food on the boat.
Confirmed 2026 reopening dates
Only two of the big names had published firm dates when we checked in late September 2026:
- Soggy Dollar Bar, White Bay: closed 26 August, reopens 7 October.
- Pirates Bight, Norman Island: closed at the end of July, reopens in October.
Expected dates, based on last season
Everything in this table is last year’s pattern, not a promise. Owners move these dates for weather, staffing and repairs. Call or check their Facebook page the week before you go.

What this means if you charter in October
- Provision for more meals aboard. In the first half of October you cannot count on dinner ashore at Cooper, in North Sound or on Anegada. Plan to cook at least five nights out of seven.
- Anegada is a November trip. The lobster dinner is the reason most crews go, and the main restaurants at Setting Point do not open until the end of October.
- The upside is real. Mooring fields that are full by 2 PM in February are half empty. Charter rates are at their lowest of the year.
- It is still hurricane season. It runs to 30 November. Read the cancellation terms and buy travel insurance that covers named storms.
